TDM

Unity is opening on August 12th. Feel free to jump into our Test Drive to get a feel for how your character would interact with the others who have arrived. All potential players are welcome to jump in. The TDM does not cross over to in-game canon, so go nuts!
If your character is new to Unity, you can assume that they've woken up in an old, musty bed housed in a run down hotel that needs significant repairs. Unless they didn't - which is lined in one of the possible starters below. For a quick visual reference, you can look at the two photo galleries on the Setting page. The left is the hotel that they wake up in, and the right is the rest of town.
Although the Also Humans try their hardest to make sure that they stay on top of things, keeping an eye on a large group of people trying to build a new society takes a lot of work. Did they mention that they literally just figured out how this whole interdimensional travel thing works? So they forgot to stabilize a portal (or two), big deal. You know the saying - to err is human - and since they evolved from humans, really, it's your fault that everyone is in this mess. They can only work with the genes you gave them.
Anyway, a portal has seemed to open by itself and several nasties and baddies are pouring out, taking the town by storm. Do you fight? Do you try to lock yourself away and wait for the Also Humans to figure out how to get these rascals back to their proper universe? Feel free to use any creature you wish here, although if you're unsure we humbly suggest Gremlins. Gremlins are just awful.
During the evolutionary phase of becoming a more complex and intelligent species, the Also Humans have forgotten that regular humans and humanoids usually need things like water. Sure, you're on an island and surrounded by fresh, clean water on every side, but don't you people like it when it just falls out of the sky, or something? They can do that for you! No, no, they insist - you're doing so much for them, after all. Of course, by concentrating their efforts on such a magnificent storm, they've simply forgotten to put new arrivals in their proper place. They've woken up in the middle of the road - a very wet, dangerously close to flooding road.
The torrential downpour comes with nasty winds, ice cold rain, and floods, which wouldn't be that big of a deal if you could just stay inside. The problem with that though, of course, is that the buildings in this town are far past their glory days - it's hard to find one that actually has a functional roof or sturdy walls. Have you managed to find one of the few shelters available? Is there someone else in there? Perhaps you spotted someone outside getting swept away by the rain or flood… well? Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help them?
So you've either just arrived or you've been a part of the Unity Project for a little while now, and you've decided that you're going to start help with the rebuilding project. Good for you! You haven't done this before though, have you? Maybe you have and this just isn't your day… either way, considering the severe lack of proper tools, you've managed to do some real damage to yourself. Maybe you got a bad cut from a rusty nail sticking out of a wall, or you dropped something heavy on your foot. Maybe you're just a clutz and you fell down the stairs (there are stairs.) Whatever you did, you're in a lot of pain and you should probably see if someone can help you. Especially since first aid supplies are so scarce around these parts…
It could be your first time, it could be your 100th time, but the Also Humans have opened a portal to another world and you've gone through. Unlike the previous locations, though, it's not very clear exactly what you can bring back to help build your society back home… in fact, there doesn't seem to be much of anything. You've been wandering through a dark, gargantuan cave for hours now, and just as you were thinking about heading back you realize… you don't know how.
The Also Humans always bring their volunteers back to the main town once a portal is about to close, but that won't happen for days. There doesn't seem to be much to eat in here (I hear moss is packed with nutritional value) and there are strange noises coming from… somewhere. It's hard to tell exactly where, with the way every small sound echos in this place, and it's not like you can see it anyway, what with the strangely bioluminescent weeds lining the cracks of the walls being your only light source. Maybe you can eat that!
No, better get walking before you starve. Perhaps you'll find another lost soul, and see if you can navigate your way back to the portal together.

1. Forgot to close the door.

Do you try to lock yourself away and wait for the Also Humans to figure out how to get these rascals back to their proper universe? Feel free to use any creature you wish here, although if you're unsure we humbly suggest Gremlins. Gremlins are just awful.
2. We forgot about the water!
Have you managed to find one of the few shelters available? Is there someone else in there? Perhaps you spotted someone outside getting swept away by the rain or flood… well? Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help them?
3. Not much of a handyman.
Whatever you did, you're in a lot of pain and you should probably see if someone can help you. Especially since first aid supplies are so scarce around these parts…
4. Lost in another world.
It could be your first time, it could be your 100th time, but the Also Humans have opened a portal to another world and you've gone through. Unlike the previous locations, though, it's not very clear exactly what you can bring back to help build your society back home… in fact, there doesn't seem to be much of anything. Barry Allen | The Flash | OTA
Now, the rain just hurt.
Running through falling drops used to be a minor inconvenience to him before he was struck by lightning, but a little bit of water hitting your face at Mach 2 was enough to leave a mark. When you have hundreds of them hitting every part of your body, it was like getting pelleted with evil little demon tears, and Barry learned his lesson early on that running through the rain meant keeping the mask on and his head down if he didn't want to end up with miniature bruises all over his body. But he didn't have the mask here, he realized that almost immediately after waking up in the middle of the street with a soaked back, and when he ran into the nearest building to find shelter he had to do so almost blindly to keep the painful bits of water from hitting his eyes. Just his luck; the first building he ran into barely had a roof. The second was missing half of a wall, and the third was a decent mix of the first two.
By the time Barry found a place that was high enough from the flooding and didn't have holes everywhere, he was covered in little red marks that he was sure would turn into bruises before fading away completely, thanks to his metabolism and healing. Rain usually hurt but this rain hurt even more, with how much there was and how hard it was coming down. He stayed a safe distance from the old, dirty window that was somehow still intact, rattling in its frame, and he frowned as he stared out at the streets. "What part of this is supposed to be safe?" He mumbled to himself, recalling what the Also Humans had promised him, and he was about to sit on the floor and wait it out when he saw something - someone - moving outside. There was no hesitation as he ran out into the rain, this time at a normal speed, his fear of being discovered so ingrained into him that he hadn't even considered he might not have to worry about that here.
He approached he person and grabbed their shoulder to let them know he was there, his voice barely audible over the roaring winds as he tried to yell over them. "Hey! It's dangerous out here, the streets are flooding. What are you doing? Come on!"

Yeah, it was pouring, like really, really pouring, but Kara wasn't worried about her actual safety. She was, however, worried that there might be someone from Earth or another planet who wasn't quite as equipped to protect themselves out in this. Her reflex was to check before she tried to find cover, because whatever this storm wanted to throw at her was probably nothing compared to some of the other hits she'd taken along the way while trying to protect National City. Kara has a feeling that she was chosen specifically to protect the volunteers in Unity, actually, and even if she wasn't, she was already taking it upon herself.
So she was standing out in the rain looking for people, listening for people, trying to figure out if there was someone who needed help who couldn't ask for it properly and just as she was about to take her clothes off to reveal the Supergirl suit underneath and go airborne to look down from the sky, she felt a hand on her shoulder and heard a familiar voice.
"Barry?" she asked and she turned, her face brightening. Kara clapped her hands in front of herself and bounced on the balls of her feet as if the fact that they weren't in the middle of practically a hurricane. "Oh my gosh! Barry, hi!" She thought she'd never see him again. This was amazing! They could protect the group together. Yeah, teamwork!
no subject
"I found a place that should be able to hold up through this, you should come with me! Come on, we shouldn't be out here-" he stopped abruptly, because if anyone could stay out in this, it was probably Kara. "We should get inside before this storm gets worse."
no subject
She grinned widely back at him when he stepped back from the hug, still holding her shoulders. "I can't believe you're here!" she chirped back, eyes wide with surprised delight. This was going to be so awesome. So awesome. ...once they got through this storm, anyway. Then, it would be totally awesome.
"I came for the project, of course, just like you, I assume," she replied and when he started to look around, Kara let her ears take the lead, listening over the roar of rainfall to see if anyone had or was calling out for help. Nothing.
Barry looked back at her and she smiled a little, shaking her head. "I will, I promise. I totally will, but I can't right now. I need to make sure there's no one trapped out here," she said, stepping back to unbutton her shirt, revealing the Supergirl suit and the S symbol on her chest. "You should get inside. I'll be there as soon as I check. I'm going up. Unless..."
She paused, looking a little sheepish. "...a second set of eyes in the sky wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I'll shield you from the rain if you want..." she offered with a little shrug. "But Air Danvers is taking off in a few seconds, here...so..."
no subject
She did, however, manage to get his full attention when she suggested not only staying out to look for other people, but when she asked him to come with her. "You want to take me?" He asked with a sense of baffled disbelief, eyebrows practically rising to his hairline. "Up there?" He pointed into the angry whirlwind that was the sky. "In this." He finished flatly with suggestion, as if waiting for her to tell him that he had misheard, holding her gaze in an effort to make her expedite the process of saying 'no, of course not Barry, because that would be absolutely insane and I completely understand that you're made out of bubble gum compared to me.'
That comment never came though, and Barry huffed a laugh as if taking her suggestion as a joke, before finally accepting that it wasn't one. He didn't have his suit here, and being held in the air by Kara didn't sound comfortable at all, especially not in this weather. ...But she was right, there could be people out there who needed their help, and what kind of person would Barry be if he just stood there and let them suffer in this sort of storm? His arms fell weakly to his side with a wet slap, his clothes already properly soaked along with his hair anyway, and he shrugged before giving a defeated glance up at the sky. "...Yeah alright, let's do it."
no subject
"I'll protect you!" she chirped. Her voice lowered into something more serious as she quickly tacked on, "and I wouldn't ever drop you."
It took her probably longer than it should've to realize that he wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea and that he'd likely thought she was joking, but when he dropped his arms against his sides with a splat, that was when she finally noticed. "Oh, Barry...I'm sorry, no, you don't have to. I just thought..." she trailed off and paused before going on, "it's okay, I just thought I'd offer, but if you're not comfortable, I can do it by myself. It'll only take a couple of minutes," she promised.
The last thing Kara wanted to do was make Barry uncomfortable, especially if they were going to be working together to build this new society; who knew how long they'd be there, after all.

Natasha Romanoff | MCU | OTA (#4)
That's what she told herself as she turned another corner down the dark cavern, barely able to see where she was going with the only light being some strange, glowing plant matter nestled within the cave walls, and her steps halted suddenly when she thought that she had heard something up ahead. She didn't call out, because Natasha wasn't a stupid kid in a slasher film, but no matter how hard she strained to hear the only thing that came to her was complete silence. But she knew she heard something. That wasn't comforting at all.
She had come here because the idea of a fresh start was too good for her to pass up, but as she continued to move again with her fingers brushing against the cold wall to keep herself steady, Natasha couldn't help but wonder exactly how this was supposed to be better than getting shot. It was dark, it was damp, it was - gross, she realized, as her fingers ran through something slimy on the wall. Getting shot sucked, but at least when she got shot she knew where the wound was and how to take care of it. Right now, she had no idea how to get back to the damn portal that she came here through because, yes, alright, fine. She was lost.
She had to have been wandering around for almost two hours before she finally stopped, telling herself that she would have to keep her energy if she wanted to keep walking, so she looked down to try and get some sort of sense of what was beneath her before she slowly lowered herself to a sit, careful to make as little noise as possible because she had no idea what could be in these caves with her. 'Brand new start, my ass.' she thought to herself bitterly as she leaned back against the cool wall, trying to juggle her options in her head. She could call out but she wasn't ready to take that risk yet. Of course it was a cave. Natasha learned how to survive in the desert, or in a frozen wasteland. No one said anything about getting stranded in a cave. Who got lost in caves?
Her weariness had settled in and Natasha let her body shut down as much as she could without falling asleep before she heard something again, her head snapping up to attention as she strained to hear once more. It was consistent this time, with a pattern - footsteps. Natasha didn't move, instead trying to narrow their location despite the annoying echo, but they were definitely getting louder. They were coming her way.
She stood, because if it was someone she didn't want to run into it would be easier to run or fight if she wasn't on the floor, but she kept herself against the wall to hide in the shadows as much as possible until she finally saw the rough shape of a person making their way towards her. She could hide herself for now, but if they passed her she would definitely be seen, and if they were aggressive it would be best if she took the opportunity to surprise them. Natasha waited for them to get closer before she stepped out with a silent foot, her voice echoing like thunder in the silent cavern.
"You're looking a little lost."
no subject
Still, when the shadow stepped away from the wall he recognized it for the possible threat it was, stopping short and anchoring himself for an attack. The woman's voice surprised him, but he tried not to let it show as he forced his shoulders to relax.
"Nah, just taking in the scenery," he said, keeping his voice light. He nodded towards her. "You?"
no subject
His response would have gotten an amused smile from her if she hadn't been trapped in a cave for an unholy amount of time. "Looking for the hot spring," she deadpanned in return, adopting his light tone. "I was told caves were reserved for the most exclusive spas. Last time I use a travel agent." She fell silent for a moment until her echo fell away, eyeing the boy to size him up. He looked young, but not much younger than her, and his body language translated to more defense, than an offensive state. That, at least, was a little comforting.
"You from the island?" It was a vague question and she meant it to be. If he had been a part of the Unity Project, he'd know what she was talking about. If he wasn't, he'd most likely have no idea and Natasha would then know that she was dealing with an outsider. "Or are you a designated cave tour guide here to show me how to get the hell out?"
no subject
"Yeah," he said, giving her a small nod. "I'm from the island." So she was with the Project too. At least he could stop thinking of her as a possible threat. He shoved his hands in his pockets and shook his head. "I wish I could tell you how to get out, I've just been following the direction the moss is growing in."
It sounded reasonable in the beginning. Four hours ago. He sighed, raising his eyebrows and maintaining their deadpan schtick.
"There really a hot spring?"
no subject
She had been trying to look past him despite knowing that she wouldn't be able to see very far in the darkness, and when he spoke again she responded without hesitation. "Yeah, it's a few yards down from the water park." Her tone was flat and dry, but to those who knew her it would be easy to pick up the fact that she was amused. She finally stopped trying to see something, accepting that it was a futile effort, before her attention turned back to the young man standing before her. He was much more interesting to try and figure out anyway.
"After this you and I can get massages and seaweed wraps. Never had one before but for some reason it sounds a lot less gross now." She gave a nod of her head in the direction opposite of where he came from before she started moving; a silent invitation for him to join her. Safety in numbers and all that. Once he was closer she looked at him again, this time briefly before her attention turned back ahead, fingers moving to trace the wet wall and keep herself steady. "I doubt we're the only ones lost right now. It's like some Alfred Hitchcock version of those McDonald's playgrounds in here. With less pee and no ball pit."
She turned a corner, and in the process Natasha was struck with an idea. She started tearing the glowing moss from the wall as they moved, pleased to see that it stayed lit after being detached. "You got a name?" She might as well try to make conversation as they moved, stopping every so often when a particularly well rooted piece of plant matter needed more effort to get torn out. "Start pulling this stuff down," she instructed him, so used to giving orders that she didn't take into consideration that the stranger might not take kindly to it. "If we gather enough we might be able to get a makeshift torch going, it'll be easier for us to see."
no subject
"You know, I didn't think this could get much worse, but you're right. There could be pee and ball pits." Normally he wasn't exactly a talker, but it'd been hours since he'd seen another human being. He was grateful for the company. "My name's Roy. You?"
He looked doubtfully at the plants in her hand, but she had a point. They weren't going out after being detached from the wall. After a moment he moved to his side of the wall and begun pulling out plants. "You don't think this stuff is radioactive, do you?"

Sirius Black | Harry Potter (Marauder Era) | OTA (#3)
He had awoken in what he had assumed was his own room of the hotel, and although the bed was worn and probably filthy, it felt like luxury to him, and he indulged by allowing himself to sleep for a full twelve hours before waking up early in the morning. That was when he finally looked around, and that was when he decided that he had to try and straighten the place up a bit. Walking was harder than he remembered, having gone for so long without eating properly that his legs were weak, but that didn't stop him from wandering around outside in the warm sunlight that he had been so certain only two days before he would never see again. It's all noble and good to say that you'd be willing to go to prison to protect or avenge your friends, but Sirius now knew that people didn't know what they were saying. Prison was hell. The darkness, the depression, the happiness quite literally being sucked out of your every pore... it was hell. Maybe it would have been worth it if he had actually managed to commit the crime he was sent there for.
That wasn't what he was thinking about today, though. Today, Sirius was enjoying the scent of flowers, and studying the potential beauty of the wrecked town to see what they could possibly build it up to be. Nothing could bring him down today. Not one thing. He had even managed to tear the sleeves off of his prison wear to feel the warmth on his arms, and that, in his humble opinion, made this place nothing less than paradise.
He found a particularly large rock on the ground and he picked it up, carrying it around with him before he finally made his way back to the hotel, and he returned to his room before moving to the far wall where there was a small hole to the outside. Alright, so they had no tools. How hard could this be?
He was humming to himself as he picked up a loose piece of old wood from the ground that had a few nails sticking out of it, and Sirius glanced at the board and the rock in his hand before giving a pleased facial shrug and moving it up to the wall to hammer it in. What could possibly go wrong? That was, ironically, his last thought before he started, now actively singing a classic rock tune to himself as he started to pound the board into the wall with his rock, trying to cover the hole. He managed to get one side in before moving to the other, holding the board up with his free hand as he hammered, and that was when it happened. He was either distracted, or his aim missed... or, more likely, he sucked at this, because the rock came crashing down on his hand, and Sirius gave a sharp cry as he dropped it to the ground to grab his wrist. "Mother fucker! Merlin, holy shit!" His voice was a little dry but that didn't stop him from crying out, looking down at his wounded hand with concern. It was bleeding, the skin having been peeled back, but it didn't look broken. Small miracles.
He started to turn in place to try and see if there was anything in the room to wrap his hand with but everything looked too dirty, and in the process he bumped the rock with the heel of his foot, causing it to roll heavily under the bed. "Fuck you too!" He snapped at the stone, feeling at least a little better after doing so before he gave a frustrated huff and left the room to wander around the hotel. There had to be something here that he could use. Not everything was absolutely filthy, was it?

What was happening to her wasn't justice. Of course she had been a part of taking the cup out from under Alec's nose....and yes she had intercepted and taken out some of her own people, but it had been what was right. Isabelle couldn't stand by and let someone that she cared about be tortured needlessly, to her that wasn't right and it wasn't lawful either. Downworlders, particularly Meliorn, didn't deserve the treatment that he'd been given. Everything that the Clave had against him was circumstantial at best, so Izzy had done what felt right.
And her reward for it, and for telling those in charge of the shadowhunters what she thought of their version of law and justice for Downworlders, was to have her fate in limbo...and dependent on other people.
The only Lightwood daughter never did do well with injustice, and this was just another shining example that there were things wrong with the Clave. In other circumstances...Izzy would have been fine and would have continued working for and with the Clave for the New York Institute alongside everyone that she loved. It seemed very likely that she was going to lose everything, though, and so the offer that she had been presented...seemed like a good idea. That was before she'd woken up without her steele, whip, and no weapons to speak of. That was yesterday.
Today, though she was tempted to lament not only the loss of the basic tools and weapons that she needed but also the dirty dilapidation all around her, she was trying to look on the positive side. She'd yet to find that yet, considering the fact that there were no tools....anywhere. She couldn't even find anything to start cleaning up the room that was deemed her's. And the shadowhunter didn't have much by way of clothing to spare, not in the dress that she'd chosen for the trial.
Iz was contemplating ripping off a portion of the skirt to use as a rag, but the idea of ruining a perfectly nice dress did prickle a bit, plus, it was all she had at the moment. It did go down to her knees, though, so there was some material to spare, she supposed. Her heels made subtle, though slightly muffled clacks against the floor as she made her way back toward her room only to stop at the sounds that greeted her ears. Expletives. Colorful ones, at that. Following the sounds, the petite shadowhunter stepped around the corner (where she'd noticed the sounds in the first place) and came face to face with...a man that wasn't quite what she had been expecting.
"Sounds like someone or something isn't on your side today...and it looks like you could use a hand." Izzy spoke teasingly, her general flirty and friendly demeanor coming out naturally. Her keen eyes, though, couldn't help but move down to his hand. "Do I even want to ask how you did that?" She pointed at his hand. She was probably a sight in this place in her form-fitting sleeveless, blue pencil skirt style dress and her pumps that were slightly dirty, but not so bad yet. That wasn't even taking into account the runes on her body, that looked almost like tattoos, from the one on the right side of her neck, to the smaller ones peppered down her arms that were visible at the moment. The two things, in most, probably wouldn't work together, considering the structured dress was plain and the runes stood out the way that they did, but she wasn't bothered by just how out of place anything might seem, she never let anything hold her back.

"Would you believe that I got into a fight with a bear in my room and won? Because if so, that's what happened." His response was a little bitter as he glared at his hand before glancing back up at her, taking in the sight of her tattoo's before finally letting his gaze return to her face. The initial shock had passed and Sirius attempted to seem - and sound - normal. The last thing he needed was to be branded as the crazy bloke who was rotting in prison the moment he met someone else in his new world. "If not, I was trying to repair a hole in my wall and my hand slipped. I've found that large stones don't make for replacement hammers. It'll be fine." His tone softened from his previous temper-fueled swearing, which he was now sure she probably heard, so he flashed her a charming smile to show that he wasn't always some raging, swearing lunatic. His own flirty and friendly demeanor came into focus, which was his default state when he actually had other people to talk to. He certainly wasn't immaculately dressed, and he was sure his usually long hair was already too long after being stuck in Azkaban without a method to properly groom himself, but for Sirius Black confidence had never been an issue and it showed.
"Don't worry about me, I've had worse than this. I'm just searching for a bit of clean cloth to wrap it up in before it ends up getting infected, I'm not keen on cutting my hand off today. It wasn't part of the original plan." He let his wounded hand fall away to hang loosely at his side before glancing down the hall that she had arrived from. "I suppose you haven't come across a new medical kit on your journey here, have you?" He looked back at her with another smile. "Or am I just going to have to settle for charming company? Sirius Black." He tacked on his name, offering her his uninjured hand to shake. "I've only just arrived."
no subject
Izzy was joking, of course, and showed that with the flippant shrug that she gave. It was an active choice that she made to keep things light on her part, considering the cursing that he had been doing...mixed with the sight of him. He certainly didn't look as if he'd been able to keep up with himself. His hair was unkempt and there was a certain wild quality about him that she couldn't quite put her finger on, not fully, anyway. The confidence was definitely a sharp contrast to the current look that he was sporting.
It brought forth all sorts of questions, really, but Izzy was smart enough not to ask any of them...not yet, anyway.
"I'll attempt not to worry." She commented, reassuringly, her eyes moving back to his hand. It needed cleaned out and then bandaged carefully, but it didn't seem as if it were so bad that stitches were necessary. If he were a shadowhunter, and one of them had a steele, it would have been all too easy to just heal him....but that wasn't even in the list of possibilities at the moment, unfortunately. "I don't think you'll have to cut your hand off today, I'd give it at least a few days before you'd lose it, anyway." A joke, yes, but the truth all the same...even if morbid.
"I haven't come across a medical kit, or much of anything that would be really useful so far, but I haven't given up yet, personally." She shared, though, she wasn't worried yet. They wouldn't have been brought here the way that they were if they were just being left to die, she was sure. And if that was the case she was sure that her brothers were probably hunting her down already, itching to tell her what a dumb mistake she'd made. "So, unfortunately, you'll just have to settle for little 'ol me, for now." Izzy took his hand, giving it a confident shake. "Isabelle Lightwood, and same."

"Well then." His eyes returned to her with an expression of interest, head slightly tilted before he made a grand gesture to the rest of the hall that neither of them had explored quite yet. "Would Isabelle Lightwood care to join me in my search for something clean to wrap this up in? I've explored outside a bit and I've found clean water nearby, so if nothing else I'll be able to at least rinse this off. If we find nothing I give myself at least a solid three days before I have to have it removed, so I think we can stay generally optimistic for now." He was only half joking, but his demeanor was still care free. He'd rather be here without a hand than in Azkaban with one.
It was only then that Sirius' eyes moved down to the floor between them, a delayed reaction to having noted the sound of her heels as she moved across the floor, and he leaned back a little to get a better look at them before his attention returned to her. "Perhaps we'll be able to find you more comfortable footwear in our search. Although you walk beautifully in those," he was sure to point out with another charming smile, "I doubt that they make for comfortable extended journeys. So, if we find a decent pair of runners, they're all yours, but clean cloth is reserved to care for my own idiotic mistake. Deal?"

Nick Sorrentino | Bitten | OTA (#1)
It didn't take long for the tall man to reach the kitchen, which seemed to be the source of the majority of the sound here in the hotel. Despite the fact that he was tall, Nick moved stealthily, slipping into the kitchen deftly and without making so much as a noise. It was the image in the kitchen that made even him pause.
Nick was used to strange. Hell, he was strange, if you really thought about it. His variety of strange didn't often have....gremlins trashing an already decrepit kitchen, though. The little imps, though that seemed too light a word, looked just like they had in the movie that Nick had seen years ago. It seemed too bizarre to be true, but a particularly large bang from one of the demonic little things snapped Nick out of his thoughts, realizing that....he had been brought here, so of course just about anything was possible.
The question was....what the hell was he supposed to do. There was no way that he was going to change, not in the damn kitchen, because it was likely he'd have to eat the things...they were that small...and they sure as shit didn't look like tasty little morsels. Nick wasn't afraid of them, not in the least, it was just a question as to how to deal with them that had him standing there in silence for long moments. They were pesky, and they could be a problem...especially considering the goal here wasn't to screw the place up further, but to fix it up (from what Nick could tell anyway).
Lifting a brow, Nick had to actively remain still and unfazed as two of them turned on one another rather than focusing on the different pieces of the kitchen, and began to fight to the death in dramatic fashion. It was almost more ridiculous in person than it had been in the movies. Just as quickly as that thought hit him, so did the sound of someone else heading this way. Nick could hear the footsteps. He was safe, either way, but he didn't want anybody else to get hurt, or to fear the little bastards if he could help it.
So, he did what came natural...he moved quickly, opening he door and grabbing the person who seemed to have been just about ready to enter the kitchen full of gremlins. "I don't normally get so grabby on a first meeting, but I just thought you'd want to know the kitchen is full of little furry gremlin bastards at the moment." Nick gave a charming smile before slowly letting go of the other person to gesture to the very room he spoke of. "So, you might not want to go in there if you are at all intimidated by little furry monsters."

She gasped loudly, seconds away from screaming when someone grabbed her and pulled her away from the door. She looked at the man in front of her with wide eyes, her heart thudding in her chest as she tried to think of the best way to get away.
And then her words registered and she blinked. "Gremlins?"
He had to be kidding, right? Her brow knit and she moved away from him when he let her go and gestured to the kitchen. She narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms across her chest. "What?"
The sound of a pot falling to the floor could be heard beyond the door.

Taking a pointed step back, so that he wasn't crowding the much shorter individual, Nick gave a certain nod. "Gremlins. They're wreaking havoc in the kitchen. And two of them decided they were going to have what looked a lot like a gladiator's fight to the death." Nick elaborated, unable to help the amused tone that crept up in his voice, even though he was telling the truth, completely so.
It was hard not to have the urge to laugh in this situation, though. Who planned on walking into gremlins filling the kitchen? Definitely not Nick!
"I know how it sounds, but I saw it with my own eyes." Nick smiled at the sound of a metallic thunk against the floor, gesturing to the door. "You can see for yourself, but I definitely suggest being as quiet as possible and not being particularly afraid of them, I think I remember them being able to sense fear or something." The werewolf shrugged, definitely carrying his normal careless demeanor, but he was doing what he could to help.
And even if he seemed to not be taking a thing seriously...he was, just not obviously so to those that didn't know him.

She swallowed and uncrossed her arms before striding forward and pushing the door open. The first thing she registered was the smell of something burning. Her eyes moved across the room to see a gremlin turning the stove up with another gremlin being held in a pot.
Her eyes widened as they both turned their heads to look at her. She grabbed the door and pulled it close, looking up at the stranger with panicked eyes.
"You're serious?" But that of course was a rhetorical question. "What do we do? How do we kill them?" She'd seen Gremlins but it had been so long she didn't remember anything, except not to feed them after midnight.
Obviously, someone had already done that.

They probably tasted awful, honestly. They looked like they were salty and his wolf-side definitely wasn't a salt fiend. So, he probably wouldn't eat them, but that didn't mean it wouldn't make it all too easy to take care of them. He probably wouldn't even need to do that, he was capable enough without becoming fuzzy. Though, it did depend on how many there were.
Lifting an eyebrow, somewhat amused, Nick gave a nod. He didn't make a point of lying unless there was a purpose, but she didn't know that. "Told ya." The tall man shrugged nonchalantly before holding up a finger and ticking off his immediate thoughts. "Blunt force trauma, I remember something about a mixer from the movie, fire....I'm pretty sure most of those and more would work. Depends on how many there are in total and if there's more than just in there." Nick mused, cracking the door so that he could peer into the kitchen.
"Should I take that to mean you're up for helping me take care of the little bastards?" Nick knew better than to underestimate a woman. Elena had taught him that well enough.

Ray Palmer | Legends of Tomorrow | OTA (#1)
Ray knows that phrase is supposed to refer to the beings that brought them here, but once the gremlins started leaping out of open portals, he was beginning to wonder if seeing normal humans was no longer going to be a part of his life from now on. Oh well, he supposed. One can't be so closed minded when it comes to rebuilding an entire community, especially since their biggest lessons are going to be learned from worlds he's never seen or heard of.
What if all the gremlins were just curious? If he saw a portal opening up in his world, he'd want to jump through and see what's on the other side too. Or maybe they knew what this place was, and they wanted to join the project. It was take more than a few scales, pointy ears and sharp-looking teeth to prevent Ray from assuming the best.
So instead of attacking, or hiding or running or trying to contact the Almost Humans, Ray approaches the gremlins and tries to say hello, instead. It was a terribly dumb idea.
Felicity Smoak | The Arrow | OTA (#2 someone please help her)
There are two things that absolutely hate torrential rain. The first is designer heels. The second is all of technology. It was really too bad that both of those things are what Felicity Smoak loved most. But right now, Felicity had bigger things to despair over than the fact that her iPad was probably also water damaged beyond repair and her shoes were no longer attached to her feet.
She'd been running from building to building — if you could even call them that — looking for shelter when the river suddenly flooded and literally everything around her started to rise with the water. Maybe she should have been grateful that the shack was so decrepit that it lacked a roof. Otherwise Felicity would have surely died as the water filled up the room. But once the river had consumed her shelter, it moved on, carrying a series of wooden debris and Felicity along with it.

It's distant when she hears the woman shouting, but it registers, and Kara's tearing her clothes off to reveal the Supergirl suit underneath. Her glasses get tucked into a little pocket Winn has hidden in the suit for her, and Kara's off, leaving her Kara-clothes in a heap on the floor in the lobby of the hotel. She bounds into the air and out an already broken window, zipping into the sky, listening for another shout to guide her path.
The second one comes not too long after the first and Kara gets the direction off the sound, hoping like crazy that the wind isn't carrying it too far in any other direction. But a few seconds later, from the sky, Kara can see the woman, struggling in the raging river and Kara pivots to face down, plummeting toward the water.
She scoops the woman up out of the water and, pushing the woman's face against her upper chest to keep her from feeling the pain that does, admittedly, come from the torrential downpour hitting Kara at high speeds when she flies, assures the woman, "I've got you," as she takes off again toward the hotel. "Hold on!"
